This multifaceted debut book is a personal family story about identity, kinship and belonging across borders. Joonam is a Persian word meaning “my beloved”, “my soul”, “my life”.
Rebecca Shririn Jafari (b. 1986), with a background in photojournalism and based in Norway, works with photography, text and collage, and explores – often through personal narratives – what it means to grow up between two cultures. Migration is a recurring theme in her work.
